Summer Research Experience (SRE)

SRE is a research-focused summer program where students from the CORE, UC LEADS, and DDF programs work with faculty in their labs and learn the theoretical and practical aspects of laboratory research. Recommended for students already in a lab or with lab experience.


UC Santa Cruz SACNAS Chapter

SACNAS is a society of scientists dedicated to fostering the success of Hispanic/Chicano and Native American scientists—from college students to professionals—to attain advanced degrees, careers, and positions of leadership in science.


Research Affiliate for Development (RAD)

The RAD program is non-competitive membership geared for students in all STEM disciplines. RAD members are eligible to participate in a seminar course where students learn to present research and give feedback to their peers as well as RAD community events, mentoring, and other activities to promote research and STEM mastery.



Chancellor’s Opportunity for Research Experience (CORE)

CORE is a campus initiative to support and retain undergraduates as they earn degrees in the biological sciences, physical sciences, mathematics, and engineering. By integrating research, undergraduate education, and professional development, CORE creates a cohesive set of experiences that fully prepares undergraduates for graduate education and influences career choices. CORE programs motivate participants through cooperative learning workshops, internships, faculty-mentored research.
